...This is it! Panis na Pansit!!!

I usually eat alone...especially in the office. Behind the fact that I am just a new hire, I also like, in some ways, to be alone...except a few minutes ago...

I cannot refuse my new colleague. Tomorrow is her birthday, and she cooked pansit for us. I was the only one not in the pantry to eat with them... so... I just joined them...libre naman eh


Sarap na sarap silang kumain ng pansit... and puro praises para sa pagkaing handa ng officemate namin...
Then she handed me a plate full of pansit....


...shocks!...

panis na pansit...

haay!


Since no one has the guts to tell her that her pancit is already spoiled, I had no choice but to eat all of the pansit she gave me...

napapa pikit na lang ako......

7:08AM na... at ayun, dalawang beses na akong napapapunta sa banyo...Lord, sana pag uwi ko, wala na to. mahirap makipag siksikan sa mrt sa ganitong kalagayan. heheheh!


Lesson Learned... wag mag pa lure sa libreng pagkain!? hahah!

Wag Puro Facebook... Mag FREELANCE JOBS Ka!

There is so many wonder that the internet has brought us. Aside from being entertained by the World Wide Web, the internet also opened up more job opportunities to people. This blog will basically give you insights to legit, free and paying freelancing sites on line.

Honestly, I am still a newbie. I just started last month, yet I already earned around $450 which is around 19,523 converted to our currency.

I do not guarantee anyone though of a sweet start. It would really be hard, especially for a newbie, since most contractors would prefer a more established freelancer, but there will always be a turn around for you.

1. Sign up for freelance sites.

There are so many other freelance sites online. However, these are the sites I am proven to be legit and really pay well. Plus, setting up an account is way easier compared to other sites.

Personally, I find it easier to get jobs on odesk compared to elance. The competition is elance is way too high, thus making it hard to establish your reputation as a freelancer for a newbie. However, payment for your job is more secured and the system is more organized in elance. Elance secures the payment for your contract and holds the funds for you until the contract has been satisfied.

These sites are basically just sites that mediate for the contractors and freelancers. When you join these sites, you join either as a contractor (to hire workers) or as freelancer (to take jobs). These sites will post the jobs with the job description, deadline, and budget. The freelancers will bid for each project, through the delivery date, their skills, and for how much you are willing to accept the job. The job will be awarded to the chosen freelancer, a contract will be agreed upon, and the payment will be made to elance or odesk. They will hold the payment until the contract has been satisfied. When contract is done, there will be at least 7 days before the payment can be requested to be withdrawn to give time to the contractor to make any possible dispute or revision regarding the job. If there are no disputes, they can transfer the funds to your account. Depending on the withdrawal method, most likely PayPal, the turn around time for the payment to clear is around 4 to 5 banking days.

For odesk, you can link any local bank for withdrawal method, the first withdrawal is free. For succeeding withdrawal, the transaction fee is 50 pesos. For elance, the withdrawal method is through PayPal. I will be discussing in the next blog, how to set up a PayPal account.

2. Get Hired!

Now that you have set up you accounts, let's work on getting more chances of getting hired.

Rule number one, use professional email addresses. Since most of the communication will be done through email, use an email address that is in any how related to your name. Please, do not use, "flirtyboy@yahoo.com, cuitiecutecute@hotmail.com or toohotforyou@gmail.com. UTANG NA LOOB!

　

Work on your profile. Verify your credentials. Sell yourself. Make sure to include all your skills, and expertise on your profile. This will increase the odds of you, getting hired.

Take skills tests for skill verification. It is not required for each freelancer; however, this will give credibility to your profile.

Assess yourself. List down everything that you are interested with. Do you love music, Christianity, anime, web designing, can you type fast? Can you write articles? These will be your keywords when searching for jobs. There are plenty of jobs posted every hour. From IT related jobs, writing jobs, to virtual assistance jobs. Knowing your skills and what you are passionate to broaden the field of jobs that you can apply for. Some jobs are as simple as uploading data for them.

Be patient and relentless.

Be hard working. Always stay online and try to apply for the newest posted jobs. Try to bid when no one else has bided on the job posting yet. The fewer competitors, the bigger chance of getting hired.

 Make an efficient and wonderfully made cover letter.

This is basically a letter that you will be sending to the contractor explaining why they should hire you. Sell yourself, but not to the extent of exaggerating and lying to the client.

　

Big things start with small things. 
Don't be discouraged if your start off contracts is just for small amounts. Yes these maybe small amounts, and sometimes not worth the effort, but remember that you are trying to establish your profile and getting positive feedbacks will let you demand for a higher payment from the employer.

　

Be honest.

Take jobs that you are confident that you really can do. Be professional; finish the work on the said deadline. Always communicate with your employer.

Nag ta trabaho, Para Maka Pag aral, Para Makapag Trabaho...

It has been 4 years since I have decided to drop my studies and chose to work. At the age of 18, I took over my parent’s responsibilities of providing for the family. Imbes na matuwa ung iba, many would rather say that it would have been better if I still tried to take few units while still working. Gusto kong tumambling at sabihing, kayo kaya lumugar sa schedule ko…PFFT!!!!!!

Well, to those who don’t know, I DID! I did tried to take, not just few, but a full load of accounting (1st and 2nd year students are supposed to take full loads of pre requisite subjects). EPIC FAIL nga lang... harhar!

Now, most of my classmates and batchmates have already graduated. A part of me is asking, what could have been, what might have been if I did not took control of the situation, and take things my way (Feeling ko kasi nun, pag di ako nag work, walang mangyayari. nainip na akong matauhan ung tatay ko-depressed kasi sya nun)

And even, I sometimes feel bitter and sorry for myself, I don’t regret my actions. There was even a point where I consider the diploma, just a piece of paper, na for formality sake, eh kailangang isampal sa mukha ng employers mo, para masabing qualified ka sa trabaho. Dumagdag pa ung fact na, I earn more than a usual college degree holder…(hindi sa nag mamayabang…)

Pero, iba pa rin kasi ung nag aral… and most importantly, nakatapos. masarap ilagay sa profile sa facebook at linkedin. masarap ilagay in bold letters sa resumes, at higit sa lahat, masarap idisplay ang grad pic na nasobrahan sa edit sa may sala ng bahay, for everyone to see.

Kidding aside, I really value education. Though, I honestly believe that a college degree can never assure you of a good career.  A college diploma may increase the odd of you getting hired but it will never ensure you of a successful career or a better future. Passion for what you do, hard work and integrity are just few of many other things that may lead you to success even when you don’t have a college diploma. Most of the people I knew, including those who came from prominent universities are underemployed…meaning, most of them are employed but not in a job any way related to their course, skills, or expertise.



Anung point ko? Wala. joke. hahah! I still plan to go back to school. And like most us, ako ay nagta trabaho, para maka pag aral (kelan naman kaya?), para maka pag trabaho!
